The Denver Post is reporting that Judge McWilliams passed away today at the age of 97. Judge McWilliams was nominated to the Tenth Circuit by President Nixon in 1970; he took senior status in 1984. His career as a judge, however, began in 1949 when he began serving as a municipal court judge in Denver. He later served as a state district court judge and justice of the Colorado Supreme Court before his nomination to the Tenth Circuit. Altogether, Judge McWilliams's judicial career spanned nearly 65 years.
